Memior, ca. 1942-2000.

Parley William Despain spent a year helping to build a telephone line from the continental United States up to Alaska, and was then sent to the European Theater to construct and repair telecommunications along the front lines of World War II, for part of the time very close to the Battle of the Bulge, and shortly after the landings at Omaha Beach, Normandy. In his memoir he candidly and clearly explains his day-to-day life as well as some of the more prominent events of his military service.
